Is Stem Cell Therapy Right for Your Pet?

Posted on 2012-02-16 13:36:46

How Our Edmond Veterinarian Can Help

If your aging dog struggles to run, jump or walk without pain, then canine stem cell therapy may be able to help. Our Edmond veterinarian has partnered with Stemlogix to provide this revolutionary treatment to our canine patients.

Our Animal Hospital Offers On-Site Canine Stem Cell Therapy

As dogs age, many suffer from the same age-related joint conditions similar to those that affect humans. Dogs can suffer from arthritis, joint problems, hip dysplasia, and cartilage damage. Unfortunately, traditional treatments that rely on prescription medications can only do so much toEdmond veterinarian provides stem cell therapy for dogs help with your pet’s pain. Canine stem cell therapy is a safe, effective treatment that uses your pet’s own stem cells to help injured joints and soft tissue heal. This naturally relieves pain and increases range of motion – no medication required!

What to Expect?

Our animal hospital is licensed to administer the Stemlogix stem cell therapy treatment. This minimally invasive procedure lasts only a few hours and can be entirely completed from the comfort of our veterinary clinic. During the procedure, our trained vet will remove a fat tissue sample from the abdomen or shoulder area of your dog. The sample is immediately processed on-site and the stem cells are isolated. The isolated stem cells are then injected into your pet’s damaged tissue. This treatment is typically completed in less than two hours. Prompt processing and injection ensures that the cells are viable and most likely to improve your dog’s condition. Everything is done on-site at our veterinary clinic and completed in just a few hours.

Your pet’s regenerative stem cells have the ability to differentiate into many different types of cells, including tendons, ligaments and cartilage. When injected into damaged tissue, the cells naturally promote healing and reduce inflammation. This helps to lessen pain while also restoring your pet’s natural range of motion. As part of the recovery process, our holistic veterinarian will work closely with you to gradually add activity back into your pet’s life. Many pet owners see an improvement in just a few days or weeks after the initial injection.

Stem cell therapy is a ground-breaking treatment that can make a tremendous difference for your dog’s quality of life.

New Therapy for Arthritic Dogs

Posted on 2012-02-08 15:30:25

Edmond Veterinarian Offers Canine Stem Cell Therapy

Does your older dog struggle to move, jump and run like he once did? Just like humans, as dogs age many suffer from degenerative joint disease. In fact, over 15 million dogs in North America are diagnosed with arthritis. While oral joint care supplements and prescription painkillers can help, these medications can only temporarily relieve your dog’s pain. Medication alone cannot restore a full range of movement. Canine stem cell therapy, however, is a natural treatment that can make a tremendous difference for arthritic dogs—bringing a full range motion and activity back to your pet’s life!

Edmond veterinarian now offers canine stem cell therapy

Canine Stem Cell Therapy Helps Dogs
Regain Movement and Relieves Pain

Thanks to our Edmond veterinarian’s partnership with Stemlogix, we are excited to offer canine stem cell therapy. This revolutionary treatment uses adult stem cells collected from your dog’s own fat deposits to spur the growth of new soft tissue and cartilage. Canine stem cell therapy is an affordable, same-day treatment that helps dogs suffering from arthritis, joint pain, hip dysplasia, and cartilage damage.

If you are new to canine stem cell therapy, it is natural to have questions about the safety and efficacy of this procedure. Stem cell therapy helps harness your pet’s own healing power to relieve pain and increase range of motion. Most importantly, this treatment uses your pet’s own stem cells. Unlike some types of stem cell therapy, there are no ethical dilemmas associated with the treatments offered at our veterinary hospital. We use cells obtained directly from your dog’s fat deposits, isolate the stem cells, and then safely inject these cells into damaged joints and injured soft tissue. The entire procedure is completed in just a few hours from the comfort of our animal hospital.

Our veterinary team is proud to be one of the first vet clinics to offer canine stem cell therapy as part of our commitment to holistic veterinary care. Already, we have witnessed remarkable transformations in our canine patients. We also offer veterinarian acupuncture to help relieve chronic pain in pets.

If your dog is suffering from chronic pain associated with joint dysfunction or arthritis, stem cell therapy may be able to help. To find out if your dog is a good candidate, visit our veterinary hospital.

Keeping Us Fresh

Posted on 2012-01-19 17:30:50

I admit it. I liked school. I did well, excelled even, and enjoyed learing new things on a daily basis. When  we graduate we don't stop learning. There are the daily chances to learn by actually doing and watching a case progress. There are also the things we call "Continuing Education." Every state has different requirements for veterinarians and  their post doctoral education education requirements. Some only require 4-8 hours of CE every 2-3 years, others require 40 hours a year. These hours are important because they keep the veterinarian up to date with current therapies, new discoveries, and regulation changes. Oklahoma is a state with realistic goals for continuing education. As a licensed veterinan in Oklahoma I have to obtain 25 hours of continuing education a year. This means I will need to be out of the office for 2 to 5 days for expanding my horizons. This is expensive, but I always hope that I will bring home the latest and greatest for my patients.

This year was no exception. I just got back from the nation's largest veterinary meeting. Five days of meetings with the top researchers and practitioners in the WORLD. Over 15,000 people from all over this country and the rest of the world attended this meeting. It was five days of intense lectures, labs, and discussions. Each morning at 6:30 am the lectures started and we stayed until the last lecture was over at 7:30 pm. What this means is that we stay on top of our game. I learned about the latest real research with real controlled non biased data, not some antedotal story with no proven result. I hope that I will be able to help more of my patients with this new information. 2012 will bring a lot of cutting edge techniques to White Oaks Veterinary Clinic. I can't wait to start performing state of the art stem cell therapy for severe arthritis and other conditions. Our class 4 laser therapy will help even more animals with pain control this year as well. New diagnostics are available for detecting CANCER in your pet before the signs are clinical. What a great new year with such rapid developements in health care! So if you missed me for the past 5 days, I am sorry. However, I have great things in store for your pet and mine. Medicine is truly advancing at a break neck pace. My goal is to always be the best source for your pet's medical needs.

Holistic Pet Care Here At White Oaks Veterinary Clinic

Holistic pet care is a great, natural way to help keep your pet healthy and happy -- and it is an excellent complement to traditional veterinary care. In today's blog we are going to focus on our holistic care offerings, since we are always seeking ways to help heal your pet naturally whenever possible.

Edmond Holistic Veterinarian

Our Edmond holistic veterinarian Dr. Mark Bianchi has long been a proponent of holistic care for pets, and he has been providing this brand of drug-free veterinary care to pets since 1997. Dr. Edmond holistic veterinarian provides acupuncture and alternative careBianchi and our entire veterinary clinic are firmly committed to using alternative means of veterinary care whenever possible, and we believe that all natural and holistic care methods can be a truly viable form of treatment for your pets. Our veterinary clinic can help you to implement a natural diet plan for your pet, we can use supplements and vitamins to address allergies and other conditions, and we can use holistic methods such as veterinary acupuncture to help resolve pain and mobility issues.

We are pleased to have our veterinary acupuncture provider, Dr. Mark Bianchi, on hand to provide acupuncture and other holistic pet care treatments. Veterinary acupuncture uses extremely fine needles to stimulate the pressure points in your pet's body. Acupuncture has proven to be virtually pain-free for our pet patients, and we have found that pets generally respond to this treatment in an extremely positive way. Acupuncture may be used to help relieve pain, as in cases of pets who have arthritis, or to help restore mobility, as in cases of pets who are recovering from injury.

Dr. Bianchi will always carefully evaluate the individual case of each pet and will discuss exactly what treatment courses are available.

We are very glad to be offering so much more than just the traditional medical veterinary care here at White Oaks Veterinary Clinic.

Holiday Safety Tips for Edmond Pet Owners

Edmond Veterinarians Offer Valuable Tips for Holiday Season

As the holiday season approaches, White Oaks Veterinary Clinic reminds everyone to keep their pets safe from harm. Our Edmond veterinarians offer simple, proven tips for pet owners to protect their pets from common holiday decorations and food.

Veterinary Tips to Avoid Urgent Animal Hospital Visits

Be sure your pet is welcome before you visit. Enjoying family and friends is the highlight of the season. However, not every household is pet safe and not everyone loves pets as you do. Simply ask if your pet is welcome before you bring them along on your visit.

Edmond veterinarians provide holiday safety tips for pet ownersSecure Christmas trees and other decorations. A highly decorated tree that falls on your pet can inflict serious injury. A smaller dog, e.g., Yorkie, or cat is at particular risk of being hurt. Also, ensure that pets are not drinking water from the Christmas tree stand, as the tree water often has preservatives in it which can be harmful to dogs and cats. If you own a cat, skip the tinsel, as it fascinates them and can obstruct their digestive tract if ingested.

Be vigilant for any dangerous or non-approved special treats. You probably already know not to give your pets chocolate or other food sweetened with xylitol. However, pet owners should be vigilant that any visitors, particularly small children, do not "share" their human treats with pets. Grapes, raisins, macadamia nuts are also problematic and toxic to dogs and cats and should be kept out of their reach.

Carefully select pet toys. Including your pet in the gift giving season is wonderful. However, dogs can destroy small toys quickly, swallowing dangerous parts, and cats love ribbon, yarn and string, all of which pose great danger if ingested.

Do without mistletoe and holly. Traditional and decorative, these two can be dangerous to pets if they swallow any pieces. From nausea and vomiting to gastrointestinal and cardiovascular problems, these substances can cause serious health issues.

Never leave candles unattended or exposed electric wires within your pet's reach. Keep candles in proper holders and secured. Hide or protect the extra electrical cords out of harm's way for your pets. Dogs and cats can easily knock over low candles or chew on exposed cords.

Follow these simple tips to keep your pets from emergency animal hospital visits this holiday season. Let us know if you have any questions about these tips or other holiday items.

What steps do you take to ensure your pet is safe and healthy through the holidays?
